TAMPA -- Two men who were dining at Ybor City's famed Columbia Restaurant were taken to Tampa General Hospital on Friday afternoon after they were struck by a piece of air conditioning duct that fell from the ceiling, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
Tampa Fire Rescue units responded to the restaurant shortly before 2 p.m., spokesman Capt. Lonnie Benniefield said.
The men were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Benniefield.
The restaurant remained open for business, according to a Tampa Fire Rescue media release, but the section where the air duct fell was closed. A woman answering the phone at the restaurant's corporate office Friday said she was unaware of any problems at the restaurant.
